Location
Brinchang is the highlands' second town and the busier of the two, with Chinese restaurants, steamboat houses and a weekend night market that fills the main square with stalls selling corn, strawberries and grilled snacks.
The Time Tunnel, a quirky museum of old Malaysian everyday life, is about a kilometre away, and the Big Red strawberry farm is close by. Drive up the road past the BOH Sungei Palas tea estate and you reach the Mossy Forest, a boardwalk through misty, moss-draped cloud forest near the summit of Gunung Brinchang.
Tanah Rata, with its bus station and jungle trails, is around 10 minutes south by car.
Good to know
- Ipoh's airport is about 83 km away by road.
- Weekend traffic in Brinchang can be heavy; plan sightseeing early in the day.
- Ask for a room with a town view if that matters to you, as only some have one.
