Chalet TM3, Langkawi

Overview

Chalet TM3 is a quiet garden stay tucked into the Pantai Cenang area, away from the busiest stretch of the beach road but close enough to walk to the sand and the restaurants. Wi-Fi is fast and free throughout, and private parking is free and secure, which helps if you hire a car to explore the island.

Chalets like these are a good-value alternative to Cenang's resorts: simpler, greener and calmer at night, with the beach bars and duty-free shops a short stroll or ride away when you want them.

Location

Laman Padi, the rice museum and paddy-field park, is close by, as is the strip of cafés and bars along Pantai Cenang.

Pantai Cenang is Langkawi's liveliest beach: a long curve of pale sand on the south-west coast, with jet-ski and parasailing operators, seafood restaurants and sunset bars. Underwater World, the island's aquarium, is on the main road, and Pantai Tengah, a quieter beach just to the south, is a few minutes away.

The airport is only around 10 minutes' drive, and day trips are easy from here: the SkyCab cable car and Sky Bridge at Oriental Village, island-hopping boats to Pulau Dayang Bunting's freshwater lake, and the mangrove tours of the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park in the north-east.
