Location
The riverfront road is lined with restaurants, and sunset over the Mekong is a highlight.
You're at the quiet, northern end of the old town, close to where the Nam Khan flows into the Mekong. The monks' dawn alms round passes nearby, and the Buddhist Archives are a couple of minutes' walk. The National Museum in the former Royal Palace and the night market are about a kilometre away.
From the Mekong landing, slow boats run upriver to the Pak Ou caves, filled with thousands of Buddha statues, and sunset cruises leave in the late afternoon.
