Overview

Dreamz Village (also listed as TC Garden Resort) is a tranquil, recently built hotel surrounded by lush, landscaped gardens. Despite the 'Tg Rhu' in its name, partner listings place it on Jalan Ulu Melaka in the Ayer Hangat district, in Langkawi's green interior, about 20 minutes' drive from Tanjung Rhu beach.

Its 24 or so rooms are spacious and air-conditioned, from doubles and twins to rooms for three and family rooms for four. Wi-Fi is fast and free, parking costs nothing, and there's a terrace, barbecue grills and a picnic area in the garden. Breakfast is available for an extra charge.

Location

Ulu Melaka is a rural part of the island, with villages, paddy fields and forested hills. Bukit Sawak and the Dream Forest attraction are a few minutes' drive, the MARDI agro-technology park is close by, and Mahsuri's Tomb, tied to Langkawi's best-known legend, is about seven minutes away.

The airport is roughly 15 minutes by car and Pantai Cenang about 25. Heading north, Tanjung Rhu has one of the island's prettiest beaches, and boats into the Kilim mangroves, home to eagles, monkeys and limestone caves, leave from the nearby jetty. Gunung Raya, Langkawi's highest peak, rises just to the north-west and has a winding road to the top.
