Padang Masirat is a farming area of rice fields and kampung houses. Mahsuri's Tomb, a memorial to the young woman at the centre of Langkawi's most famous legend, is nearby, and the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre hosts the island's big maritime and aerospace show, LIMA, every other year.
To the west, the road leads to Telaga Harbour, the Seven Wells waterfall and the Machinchang mountains, where the SkyCab cable car climbs to the curved Sky Bridge. Pantai Cenang's beach, restaurants and duty-free shopping are usually 10 to 20 minutes away by car.
