Overview
Jungle KingDomes (also written Jungle Kingdome Guest House) is up in the green hills above San Juan, where guests sleep in jungle domes rather than ordinary rooms. Its café and bar look out over the coast, and come late afternoon it's one of the better seats on the island for watching the sun sink into the sea.
It suits travellers who like somewhere a bit different and don't mind a short ride down to the sand. Up here it's cooler at night, greener and much quieter than the coast road, and you wake to the sound of the forest rather than tricycles.
Highlights
- Dome-style accommodation
- Café and bar with sunset views
- Hillside jungle setting
- Quieter and greener than the coast
Location
San Juan's sunset beaches, including Solangon and Paliton, are a short ride downhill, along with the town's dive shops and cafés. The hill roads can be steep and slippery after rain, so take it slowly if you're new to riding a scooter, or ask the guesthouse to arrange a tricycle.
From the hills it's also easy to head inland: Mount Bandilaan's forest trails sit in the middle of the island, and Cambugahay Falls, with its tiered turquoise pools and rope swings, is on the road towards Lazi.
Good to know
- Room details are limited online; check the partner page for facilities.
- You'll want your own transport or a tricycle for trips to the beach.
- Bring insect repellent, as the setting is properly green.
